HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Last year on Mother's Day, my eldest son Nathan, wrote a poem for me and presented in church. It made some people laugh, while some others shed tears. It was the most emotional moment, I laughed uncontrollably and cried so much. It was the sweetest thing ever. Such a blessing.

I remember how long I waited to have kids, I cried so many nights, it seemed like nothing was happening, everyone around me was having kids and it felt my turn will never come but today I am blessed with the most amazing gifts.

Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing mothers and mothers to be out there who bring so much joy to their families and those around them. Regardless of how you mother, you are doing your best with the strengths and circumstances you have. Though there are no perfect mothers and no perfect way to
mother, there are great mothers out there.

So I just want to remind you today that; You are doing such an awesome job and I celebrate your strength and courage. You are such a pillar. You never know how much impact you are making. Though no one sees the tears from your eyes or understands the pains you may go through, know that you are an influencer and a world changer.

You are beautiful in and out, you give love unconditionally and place the needs of everyone else above yours. You are a great role model, a great mentor and teacher. You are compassionate and a shoulder to lean on. You are a motivator, a believer, future builder, nurturer, potential unlocker and mentor.

You are caring, loving and kind, a comforter and protector. You are a wonderful mum. Whether you are a mom with children or not, an aunt or friend, Mother's Day is for you and I celebrate You. Your nurturing and caring qualifies you as a mother.

Today I want to celebrate the legacy of my mother Joy Omotoyibo Amata. My mum was such a great woman and pillar of strength to us all. She had me when she was 43 years old and that mean't she couldn't do certain things with me as a teenager. I used to think then she wasn't as cool as my other friends mum hahhahaah, but she was everything to me. She was there for me each and every step of
the way, I was like her handbag growing up, she took me everywhere with her.

She taught me how to be positive and stay positive. I remember her having a go at me anytime I used negative words or was being negative. She was so hardworking, enterprising and selfless.

Mum and I
She told me a story of how when I was 3 years old, armed robbers had come to our house and they had wanted to take me away, but she stood and said to take her instead. Thankfully we were both saved.

My mother was my greatest fan and supporter. She believed so much in me and I wish she was still alive today to see me fulfilling my dreams.

My mother loved to sing and dance, I think she had the greatest alto singing voice. She had the best smile ever. She was peace-loving and a peacemaker, although I think when she was growing older she became a bit troublesome hahahhah. I remember one night my husband and I and everyone else had all gone to bed, I heard a loud noise from the living room, I rushed out wondering what it was and there was my mum sitting down with the most mischievous smile, she turned on the tv and had increased the volume to its maximum. I asked what was going on, she said she needed to get my attention. Gosh I was so upset. Now I remember that night and all I do is laugh really hard.

I miss her so much everyday but her legacy lives on. I am so blessed to have been mothered by such a great woman, the matriarch of the Amata Dynasty.

Today please celebrate the women in your lives, let them know how much you appreciate them and all they do. For someone reading this, your mum may not be here with you physically and it can be quite difficult
celebrating Mother's Day but you can celebrate and honour her memory. For someone else, you may not have had children yet and so may feel sad and left out but you have the capacity to be a mother and you are worth celebrating.

Happy Mother's Day with love.

Enjoy this Poem from my eldest son Nathan

My Mum Is

My mum is crazy and wonderful

She gives me all the latest gadgets
She buys me clothes
And makes me do my homework
Everyday...

My mum is the most amazing singer
She sings when she's happy
She sings when she's excited
She sings even though she doesn't need to
My mum can reach the highest notes
I think...
Lowest notes too

My mum is random
She dances to crazy music
And makes me dance with her
Wow... I just realised
My mum is special
As in like CRAZY special

I love you mum
Keep on bringing joy to us.
Nathan(c)
